What is upsell?
An upsell is a sale of a higher-grade, larger or more capable version of the product a customer was already planning to buy. A cross-sell adds a different product; an upsell replaces the one requested with a better one.
Upsell example
A contractor asks for a standard water heater. The counter rep points out that the high-efficiency model costs more up front but uses less gas, and the contractor prices both for the building owner.
